Gotthold-Ephraim-Lessing primary school playground to be renovated
The schoolyard of the Gotthold-Ephraim-Lessing primary school in the Sonnenberg neighbourhood of Chemnitz is currently being renovated in line with monument protection regulations. The corresponding civil engineering and landscaping work began at the end of May with the earthworks. The paving work is currently taking place so that the design is taking shape.
The school playground, which has already been partially renovated, is being upgraded with a new central play area with a large combination of equipment and new path paving, offering pupils new opportunities to organise their breaks in future.
The primary school teaches around 150 children in seven classes per school year.
The work is scheduled for completion in August 2021, with remaining landscaping/maintenance work to be carried out until the end of November 2021.
The project will cost a total of 146,000 euros. The company Jacob + Bilz Landschaftsarchitekten PartnerschaftsG mbB, Chemnitz, was commissioned with the planning and local construction supervision. The construction work will be carried out by the construction company Steinbach und Richter GbR - Landschaftsgestaltung, Lichtenau.
The refurbishment is being subsidised by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, funding guideline for the acceleration of primary school care - FöriGrundSB.
