Goethestrasse will be closed from Wednesday

Newly laid gas pipeline must be connected

From Wednesday 18 October until probably 21 November, Goethestraße between Goetheplatz and Neefestraße will be fully closed to traffic. During this time, the newly laid gas pipeline will be connected to the existing network in order to guarantee the supply to residents over the coming winter months. This is being done as part of the coordinated Lortzingstraße road and pipeline construction project.

Traffic travelling out of the city will be diverted via Neefestraße, Katharinenstraße and Stollberger Straße. Traffic travelling towards the city will be routed via Stollberger Straße, Haydnstraße and Neefestraße. It is recommended to divert from Stollberger Straße in the direction of Neefestraße already at Irkutsker Straße/Lützowstraße.

A mobile traffic light will also be set up at the Goethestraße/Neefestaße junction to regulate the diversion flows crossing there.

Goethestraße is already increasingly being used as a diversion route due to the construction work on Annaberger Straße and Zwickauer Straße. In order to minimise the time restrictions on Goethestraße, the preparatory work on Goetheplatz has already been progressed as far as possible.

A postponement of the closure until 2024 was examined, but is not possible due to the urgency of guaranteeing security of supply for the residents affected. We ask for your understanding.
