Goal: For Chemnitz municipal theatres, collective agreement from 1 January 2019

The Chemnitz Municipal Theatres are to return to the regional collective agreement from next year. Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig informed the City Council's Administration and Finance Committee of this today following detailed discussions in the Supervisory Board of the municipal theatres. This is made possible by the announcement made by the Saxon State Ministry of Science and the Arts on Tuesday to provide municipal theatres and orchestras in the Free State with a total of 28 million euros in additional funding over the coming years. This is to be used for better pay for employees.

Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "We welcome the decision of the Free State to better equip the cultural centres. Following discussions in the Supervisory Board, we intend to use these additional funds and financial resources from the city to enable the employees of the municipal theatres to return to the standard pay scale at the beginning of 2019."

In order to return to the regional collective agreement, the city council will need to amend its resolutions on the theatre concept after the summer break. This would mean that it would no longer be necessary to conclude another in-house collective agreement.
