Adult education centre: Six-part course from 31 March, 6 p.m., Chemnitz Environmental Centre
The six-part "Klimafit" course at Chemnitz Adult Education Centre starts on Thursday, 31 March. On six evenings, every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Chemnitz Environmental Centre, Henriettenstraße 5, participants will learn what everyone can do individually and collectively for nature and environmental protection.

Individuals often feel powerless in the face of the global problem of climate change. Yet environmental protection begins on our own doorstep. On the one hand, the course will teach the scientific basics of climate change, and on the other hand, it will address the changes it is causing in Chemnitz and the region. Participants are invited to get involved in climate protection in Chemnitz. They will come into contact with experts from the field of climate research, receive in-depth scientific information and get to know local stakeholders and initiatives.
The course, developed by the World Wide Fund for Nature Germany (WWF) and the Helmholtz Research Network on Regional Climate Change and Humans (REKLIM), also shows participants how they can take action themselves. Participants start with a group task during the course. Participation in the entire course is recognised with a certificate.
Since January 2022, the "klimafit" education project has been funded for three years by the National Climate Initiative of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection on the basis of a resolution passed by the German Bundestag. The course takes place at local adult education centres in 128 municipalities across Germany. In Chemnitz, the course will be offered for the second time in 2022.
