Programmes for boys
Background:
On Girls' Day, administrations, companies, businesses and universities throughout Germany open their doors to schoolgirls from the 5th grade onwards. The girls get to know training occupations and study programmes in which women are rarely represented. Examples of this are the fields of IT, trades, natural sciences and technology. Boys also have a wide range of interests and strengths. However, when it comes to choosing a career, they often opt for traditional "male professions" such as automotive mechatronics technician or industrial mechanic. However, there are numerous other occupational fields in which male specialists and carers are needed, for example in the social, educational or care sectors. Boys' Day is organised to give boys the opportunity to try out these professions too.
