Girls’ Brunch at the Spinnerei

Social gathering on 8 July, 11 am to 2 pm, Altchemnitzer Straße 5a

On Wednesday 8 July, from 11 am to 2 pm, girls and young women are once again invited to the Girls’ Brunch at the Spinnerei Chemnitz, Altchemnitzer Straße 5a. Participants can look forward to a varied programme featuring creative, sporting and informative activities.

The Girls’ Brunch offers girls and young women the opportunity to spend time together, make new friends, share ideas and try out various hands-on activities. Admission costs 2 euros.

At the same time, the event addresses important issues relevant to their lives: for example, a workshop will tackle cyberbullying and cybergrooming, providing knowledge and practical strategies for navigating digital spaces safely and independently. The aim is to strengthen the participants’ media literacy, raise awareness of risks and boundary violations online, and boost their confidence in using social media, messaging services and online platforms. In addition, the girls and young women will learn how to recognise problematic situations at an early stage, what support options are available and how to respond appropriately in an emergency.

As well as a communal brunch with finger food and cocktails, visitors can look forward to numerous hands-on activities such as a hip-hop dance workshop, a mobile music rehearsal room, yoga, jewellery-making, screen printing, and sport and fun with the City Sports Association. The Spinnerei’s pool area promises a chance to cool off.

The event is organised by the Chemnitz Working Group for Girls and Young Women and supported by the City of Chemnitz’s Equal Opportunities Officer, Franziska Herold.

“The Girls’ Brunch is an important space for meeting others, exchanging ideas and empowerment. Particularly in view of the growing importance of digital spaces, it is vital to support girls and young women in navigating these spaces safely, confidently and independently – both online and offline,” says Franziska Herold.

Girls and young women who are interested can direct any further enquiries to the Equal Opportunities Officer by email at gleichstellungsstelle(at)stadt-chemnitz.de or by telephone on 0371 4881070.
