Girls' and boys' future day 2015

Invitation to the press conference

On 16 April 2015 at 11 a.m., the Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Chemnitz, Pia Hamann, together with the Girls' Day working group and the Boys' Day working group, represented by Karin Einenkel, invites representatives of the media to a press conference in City Hall, room 118.
Among other things, specific information will be provided about the programmes offered by the participating companies and the workshops for girls and boys.

Girls' Day & Boys' Day will take place nationwide this year on Thursday 23 April. This day of action was organised for the first time in 2001 and has been a firm part of the careers guidance programme in Chemnitz for many years. Boys'Day is being organised nationwide for the fifth time.

Boys and girls have a wide range of interests and skills. However, their career choices are often very traditionally orientated. The number of applicants is significantly underrepresented, particularly in social or nursing professions for boys and in industrial-technical and skilled trades professions for girls. At the same time, female or male skilled workers and carers are socially desirable in these occupational fields.

The aim of Girls' Day & Boys' Day is to arouse the interest of girls and boys in grades 7-11 from the city and the surrounding area in seemingly "gender-atypical" training occupations and study opportunities. On this day, the girls and boys not only have the opportunity to look over the shoulders of skilled workers, but also to try out these professions for themselves and thus expand their range of career choices beyond the "typical female or male professions".

organisational matters and registration can be found on the Internet at
