Girls and boys from local daycare centres compete in the traditional cross-country race
On Tuesday, 22 October, the traditional cross-country race of the municipal day-care centres in Chemnitz will take place. The venue is once again at the Küchwaldpark festival meadow. After a joint warm-up with the "sporty hare" and the "clever hedgehog", the start will be at 9.15 a.m. at the park railway station.
Around 200 children from 25 municipal facilities will do their best in this competition to win one of the first places. The event is organised by the Office for Youth and Family, Department of Child Day Care Facilities, Child Day Care of the City of Chemnitz with the support of Parkeisenbahn Chemnitz gGmbH.
Preparations and test runs began weeks ago in the day-care centres to determine the participants in the cross-country race who will represent their day-care centre on Tuesday.
They are cheered on by the children from their groups, who eagerly cheer them on at the edge of the running track. The winners will then receive their certificates at an award ceremony.
