Germany-wide World Games Day

Colourful hustle and bustle next Saturday, 30 May, on Ikarus Boulevard

"Our streets are for playing!" - this is the motto of World Play Day, which will be celebrated across Germany for the eighth time on 28 May. This year, the focus is particularly on street play. The German Children's Fund is calling on all cities and municipalities in Germany to block off at least one street for children to play in and to authorise temporary play streets. Exciting activities are organised to make the street an attractive place for children to play on this day.

Chemnitz is responding to the call with the children's commissioner Ute Spindler. The Kappel/Helbersdorf neighbourhood management took up the idea and will transform Ikarus Boulevard into a playground for the district festival next Saturday from 2 to 6.30 pm.

In addition to numerous creative, sports and information activities for the whole family, there will be an attractive stage programme. The kindergartens have lovingly rehearsed singing performances, oriental belly dancing and line dancing will be presented and the parish trombone choir can be heard. There will also be a big dog show and street games to keep you entertained. Finally, the Chemnitz band Cartilago will treat the residents to musical entertainment.
