On Friday, 6 February - at the start of the holidays - the northern section of the playground on Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz will be opened for children to play.
The playground, which consists of two sections, was closed at the beginning of March 2025 and extensively renovated. There were considerable delays during construction due to delivery problems on the part of the playground equipment manufacturer. The work in the northern play area was completed at the end of last year. Now that the pathways have been completed, this playground area can be used.
The play equipment was designed following a competition on the theme of "Theatre World - Children's Play Stage" and the playground was divided into two play areas (north and south).
The north play area with the theme "On stage" is intended for children aged 3 to 12 years. Play elements include a spotlight that can be climbed on, a play footbridge, balancing tracks, a slide tower, double swing, double bar and wobble plate.
Access to the northern play area is initially only possible via the park path. The entrance from the corner of Puschkinstraße/Hübschmannstraße will remain closed until the construction work is complete. The remaining work in the southern play area (toddler area) with the "cloakroom" theme will be continued as soon as the weather permits.
The construction costs totalled approx. 285,000 euros. The landscaping work was and is being carried out on schedule by the construction company Fachcenter Garten from Hauptmannsgrün.
