Author Ines Geipel will be reading from her latest book "Generation Mauer" on 12 October at 7 pm in the TIETZ City Library. Born in East Germany in the 1960s, the "children of the Wall" were young enough to conquer the world from 1989 onwards - a happy generation?
Ines Geipel explores the attitude to life of her generation in interviews with children of the Wall and in current psychological-sociological studies. She finds access to a generational narrative that deals with great mortgages, but also with great opportunities.
Ines Geipel, born in Dresden in 1960, spent six years competing in high-performance sport in the GDR. After studying German language and literature in Jena, she fled to West Germany in 1989 and studied philosophy and sociology in Darmstadt. In 2000, she was a co-plaintiff in the trial against the masterminds of forced doping in the GDR. Today she is a professor of verse at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts and works at the Hannah Arendt Institute.
