Garden tours this time under the motto "Insights and views"

Garden tours organised by the Chemnitz garden and landscape architects will also take place in the 2014 season. This time, the theme of the programme is "Insights and views" with a total of seven guided tours. The first six events invite visitors to gain insights into various gardens that are otherwise not open to the public. With the final guided tour in October, the organisers want to offer beautiful autumnal views of Schönherrpark and Schönherrfabrik.

The garden tours are again free of charge and take place on the last Saturday of each month from 2 pm - here is the preview :

Saturday, 26 April, 2 p.m.: Permaculture garden at Chemnitz University of Technology - meeting point at the entrance to Vetterstraße 52 hall of residence.

Saturday, 31 May, 2 p.m.: Autism garden, Schreberhain allotment garden - meeting point at the Schreberhain allotment garden home (accessible via the Reichenhainer Straße entrance, above the crematorium).

Saturday, 28 June, 2 p.m.: Seed garden - meeting point Augustusburger Straße near Tschaikowskistraße.

Saturday, 30 August, 2 p.m.: Intercultural garden - meeting point Franz-Mehringstraße 39 and then approx. 3.30 p.m.: Garden at "Kompott" - meeting point courtyard entrance Leipziger Straße 3 - 5.

Saturday, 27 September, 2 p.m.: Tafelgärten Gartensparte "Sonnige Höhe" - meeting point Spartenheim der Kleingartensparte Sonnige Höhe, entrance via Frühlichtweg.

Saturday, 25 October, 2 p.m.: Schönherrpark and Schönherrfabrik - meeting point park entrance Schönherrstraße.

Garden tours have been organised and offered by the Chemnitz garden and landscape architects for ten years; one of the initiators is Siegfried Weidlich from the Parks Department. The occasion in 2004 was the 150th birthday of Otto Werner (1854-1923): The garden named after him in the city park commemorates the work of the important city garden director in Chemnitz.
