Further sports facilities can reopen

Bernsdorf indoor swimming pool already open again from today - Schloßteichhalle from tomorrow (15.12.) - school gyms from Monday (17.12.)

The mild weather conditions and rising temperatures forecast for the next few days mean that more of the sports facilities in Chemnitz that were closed as a precaution due to the snow load on the roofs can be reopened for use: The Bernsdorf indoor swimming pool was already reopened to bathers this Friday morning. The Schloßteichhalle can also be guaranteed to be open from tomorrow: after the snow has been cleared from the roof of the hall, the facility can be reopened for athletes and visitors.

The Sports Office also reports that the following sports facilities, which were also temporarily closed for use, will also be reopened with immediate effect: the gyms in Röhrsdorf, Wittgensdorf. Grüna, Klaffenbach and Adelsberg, as well as the sports field and the football training hall on Neubauernweg.

The gymnasium in Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain cannot yet be opened. The two gyms at Alfred-Neubert-Straße 21 and 23 and the gyms at Dittersdorfer Straße 146 a and b must remain closed.

School gyms will be open again from Monday (17.12.): The closure of the school gyms last Tuesday (11.12.) due to the heavy snowfall up to that point and the associated snow load on the roofs (see PM 746 from 11.12.2012) can be lifted again after the coming weekend from Monday (17.12.). This is provided that the forecast thaw actually materialises and no further snowfall is recorded. Chemnitz schools, whose gyms had to be temporarily closed as a precautionary measure, will be informed of this decision this Friday by the city's building management and construction department.
