Further restrictions on public life loom
Health authority warns of rising corona numbers in Chemnitz
Further restrictions on public life in Chemnitz are imminent in the coming days due to the rising number of coronavirus infections. The so-called incidence value with the average number of people testing positive within seven days has been stable above 20 for days and continues to rise.
From a value of 35, which according to the health department is expected in the coming days, further restrictions on public life will be necessary in accordance with the current Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance and the agreements reached yesterday by the federal government with the minister presidents. The Saxon state government also announced a new protection ordinance yesterday, in which further measures are instructed throughout the state.
In order to prevent a further increase in the number of infections, the responsible authorities will significantly increase their inspections of businesses, restaurants and bars as well as local public transport in the coming days. Violations of the applicable rules could result in severe fines. Necessary closures of schools, daycare centres or after-school care centres will be ordered by the health authorities if deemed necessary.
The following measures are planned in detail:
The following measures apply from an incidence of 35:
- Close monitoring of general hygiene rules by the responsible authorities.
- No large events with 250 or more participants.
- No sporting events with spectators.
- Private parties in public or rented rooms are limited to a maximum of 25 participants.
- Celebrations in private rooms are limited to 25 participants.
- Closing time from 23:00.
- Masks are compulsory in closed rooms with visitor traffic.
- Masks will be compulsory in shopping centres and public buildings and there will be a one-way street system.
- Organisers and operators of businesses, sports facilities, restaurants, hotels, accommodation facilities and gatherings in public spaces must collect personal data for contact tracing.
- Meetings and gatherings in public spaces as well as religious events are only permitted for up to 250 people, provided that the minimum distance is maintained and personal data is documented.
- Visiting bans apply to hospitals/nursing homes etc. with exceptions for visits by close relatives in maternity, paediatric and palliative care wards and hospices (end-of-life care). Exceptions may be authorised on application for important reasons.
- Meetings and gatherings in public spaces without collecting contact details are only permitted with members of the same household and another household or with up to five other people.
- Sexual services must be discontinued.
From an incidence of 50, the following additional measures apply:
- Limitation of celebrations in public or rented rooms to a maximum of 10 participants.
- Limitation of participants in celebrations in private rooms to 10 people.
- Ban on meetings and gatherings in public spaces as well as religious events.
- Closing time 22:00.
Due to these possible measures, the head of the health department, Dr Harald Uerlings, once again appeals to the population of Chemnitz to consistently adhere to the existing rules in order to contain the incidence of infection: "Distance, hygiene and wearing a mouth-nose covering where distance cannot be maintained are the absolute essentials these days. It also makes sense to air rooms regularly. The catering industry has a special responsibility to ensure that hygiene concepts are correctly observed and implemented in its facilities."
