Further construction of the Wüstenbrand-Lugau cycle path: funding secured
At its meeting today, the city council approved commitment authorisations for the Wüstenbrand-Lugau cycle path. The funding provider's condition was that the construction work be put out to tender by the end of September 2020. Corresponding commitment appropriations are required for the 2021 and 2022 financial years in order to receive the grants.
In accordance with construction resolution B-241/2018, the second construction phase of the cycle path runs for approx. one kilometre from Gewerbeallee Mittelbach to the western end of Mittelbach. The construction project will be realised over the next two years and is expected to cost around 743,000 euros. Of this, 70,000 euros are own funds and 667,220 euros are subsidies from the Free State of Bavaria for municipal road and bridge construction.) Depending on weather conditions, construction will begin in the first quarter of 2021, so that cyclists will be able to cycle along the new section of the cycle path from spring 2022.
The first section was completed in summer 2018. It connects to the existing cycle path at the crossing of the S 246 state road (Pflockenstraße) and runs for 1.3 kilometres to Gewerbeallee Mittelbach.
