Further construction of the Südverbund approved by the state directorate

Statement by Mayor Thomas Kütter

With the approval of the State Directorate of Saxony for the further construction of the Chemnitz South Link on the north-south axis from Augustusburger Straße to the Ebersdorf district (South Link Part IV according to the city's plans), a planning approval procedure that has been ongoing for over seven years has been brought to a successful conclusion. This means that Chemnitz will be able to include an important transport link in its transport development plan in the future. Other essential transport infrastructure plans will build on this.

Mayor for Urban Development and Construction Thomas Kütter:
"With the planning approval decision, the planning and authorisation phase of the construction section from Augustusburger Straße to the B169 in Ebersdorf has been completed. This means that building rights are now in place and implementation can begin by the commissioned DEGES.
The construction of this section is a further step towards relieving congestion in Chemnitz city centre. It is now important that it is realised as soon as possible and that planning for the remaining section up to the A4 motorway continues."
