Funding secured for the replacement of the Klaffenbacher Straße bridge in 2021 and 2022
At its meeting today, the City Council authorised the City of Chemnitz to enter into financial commitments for the replacement construction of the Klaffenbacher Straße bridge (BW7) beyond the 2020 financial year. The financial obligations for the construction work on the bridge will fall due in 2021 in the amount of 650,000 euros and in 2022 in the amount of 828,680 euros.
In October 2018, the city of Chemnitz submitted an application for the replacement of the Klaffenbacher Straße bridge. The measure was to be implemented together with the state dam administration (LTV) as part of the Würschnitz flood protection concept with construction starting in 2019. As the grant notification was not issued in 2019 as requested, the LTV has already started its construction work. The replacement construction of the Klaffenbacher Straße bridge can therefore only take place after the LTV's construction work has been completed.
The City of Chemnitz received the grant notification on 3 August 2020 (issued on 23 July 2020). The grant will be staggered as follows: €200,000 in 2020, €650,000 in 2021 and €828,680 in 2022.
The decision contains the condition that the tender must be issued within four months of the grant notice being issued, i.e. by 23 November 2020 at the latest.
In order to be able to organise the tender in 2020, the approved grants for 2021 and 2022 must be secured with a commitment appropriation. The planned own funds are available due to changes or postponements of other civil engineering measures.
