The 2024 Grants Report of Chemnitz City Council has now been published. In it, all city grants to associations, clubs and third parties are presented retrospectively by topic and grant recipient. The grants are funds from the city budget that are approved for purposes that are in the public interest.
For example, grants were awarded for the renovation of children's daycare centres run by independent providers, the management of club sports facilities, the operation of the Neue Sächsische Galerie and the Kraftwerk socio-cultural centre and the Stadtmission Chemnitz e. V. as an addiction and counselling centre. Furthermore, a wide range of support was provided for the Chemnitz sports and cultural landscape.
For the first time, not only the total grants to the citizens' platforms are presented, but also the individual projects funded by the citizens' platforms according to the definition of the grant report.
In total, the report covers over 32 million euros with over 1000 individual measures. The focus is on the funding of the Office for Youth and Family Affairs with 15.8 million euros, cultural funding with 5.2 million euros, sports funding with 4.9 million euros and the specialised funding of the Social Welfare Office for Youth, Social Affairs and Health with 2.5 million euros.
