Funding received for the repair of Neefestraße
The city of Chemnitz has received 5.7 million euros in funding from the State Office for Road Construction and Transport and the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport. This will be used to renovate Neefestraße between motorway 72 and the Südring. The funding covers around half of the total investment required for this.
The construction project will be presented to the city council for approval at its next meeting on 8 February 2023.
The renovation will comprise three major construction measures, which will be carried out in parallel. Firstly, the bridge (Neefestraße/B173) over the access road to Neefepark ("Im Neefepark" road) will be removed and rebuilt. On the other hand, the city-orientated single lane will be extended from Neefepark to Neefestraße. Finally, the carriageway between Südring and motorway 72 will be renewed.
The funding is being provided by the Free State of Saxony under the programme for the promotion of municipal road and bridge construction. The approval period is valid until the end of 2024.
