Funding is once again available for "favourite places"

Applications can be submitted until 30 November

Funds from the "Barrier-free building - favourite places for everyone" investment programme will once again be available next year to remove barriers. For 2023, the Free State of Saxony is providing funds totalling 290,700 euros for the city of Chemnitz. Applications will be accepted by the Social Welfare Office until 30 November 2022.

Using every restaurant, going to the cinema without restrictions, visiting a museum or actively participating in sports in a club is not possible for everyone. Many of the facilities are not accessible for wheelchair users and cannot be used to their full extent by people with hearing and visual impairments or learning difficulties.

With this in mind, the Free State of Saxony launched the investment programme for the removal of barriers for the first time in 2014 under the motto "Favourite places for everyone" with a total funding amount of 4 million euros. It is intended to make access easier for people with disabilities and turn the places mentioned as examples into their favourite places.

The funding can be effective in many areas of public life, such as culture, leisure, education, but also in the healthcare sector, such as doctors' surgeries, physiotherapies or pharmacies. Support is provided to applicants who are not eligible for any other funding programme, such as the "Investment and Participation" guideline.

The funding programme provides for a cost reimbursement of up to 100 percent if the project does not cost more than 25,000 euros. 25 per cent of the total funding amount is to be awarded for measures to create accessibility in outpatient medical and dental practices. In addition to non-profit initiatives, clubs and associations, tradespeople are also eligible for funding.

The form "Barrier-free building investment programme - favourite places for everyone" is available in the service portal > social topics.
