Funding for training as an educator in independent daycare centres
At its meeting today, the City Council approved funding for teacher training in independent daycare centres. This is also intended to ensure staffing requirements and staff retention at independent daycare centres and guarantee the high quality of care. The city council already decided this for municipal daycare centres in September 2019 (B 240/2019). The training is subsidised for a period of four years. Beneficiaries are recognised independent youth welfare organisations that operate at least one daycare centre for the City of Chemnitz's requirements plan.
In addition to up to 100 per cent funding of the training fee to be paid, the funding includes a lump sum for material costs for textbooks, group and experiential education measures and training costs. In addition, the training organisation receives a quota for the procurement of consumables for the respective trainee.
A maximum of one trainee per independent organisation is funded each year. With the training contract, the trainee educators commit to continued employment for at least four years immediately following their training.
A total of almost 2.5 million euros is available for this programme until 2024.
