Funding for the Upper and Lower Luisen School

Tomorrow, Wednesday 23 August at 12.15 p.m., Mayor Philipp Rochold will receive two notifications from the Saxon State Minister for Culture, Brunhild Kurth, regarding funding from the Saxon Investment Strengthening Act, federal budget. Firstly, the decision to provide 225,000 euros for the barrier-free expansion of the Obere Luisenschule primary school and secondly, the decision to provide 378,305 euros in funding for the barrier-free expansion of the Untere Luisenschule secondary school. The handover will take place at the Obere Luisenschule primary school in Chemnitz, Fritz-Matschke-Straße 23. Representatives of the press are cordially invited to attend.

Obere Luisenschule - primary school - barrier-free extension
The Obere Luisenschule will have barrier-free access to the school building. The new entrance is located on the courtyard side in the basement. The addition of a lift will provide barrier-free access to all floors. Construction, which is taking place while school is still in session, began at the end of June and should be completed by the end of the 2017/2018 school year. The costs amount to a total of 475,000 euros.

Lower Luisen School - secondary school - barrier-free expansion
The Untere Luisenschule will also have barrier-free access. The new entrance will be on the west side. The building will also be equipped with a lift to provide barrier-free access to all floors. The installation of a barrier-free disabled toilet is planned in the basement. The work, which is to be carried out without disrupting school operations, began at the end of June. Construction is scheduled to end at the end of the 2017/2018 school year. The total costs amount to 604,000 euros.
