Funding for independent youth welfare in the city of Chemnitz secured for 2024
Independent youth welfare organisations can expect a funding volume of around 15.2 million euros in 2024 (2023: 13.8 million euros).
After all applications were received on 15 April 2023, a deficit of almost 700,000 euros was initially expected. This resulted in particular from the collective wage agreement for the public sector, to which many independent providers are orientated.
Independent providers, the City of Chemnitz and the Youth Welfare Committee worked together to find a final solution. This was only possible thanks to the willingness of independent organisations to offer voluntary savings. In addition, the City of Chemnitz, in a joint effort by the Lord Mayor and Departments 1 and 5, has succeeded in covering the remaining deficit by providing additional financial resources so as not to jeopardise the resolution of the action plan for 2024.
This means that all planned services provided by independent youth welfare organisations, including school social work, are secured for 2024.
The action plan is scheduled to be adopted by the Youth Welfare Committee on 5 December 2023. The funding decisions will then be issued by the youth welfare office so that the organisations can start the new year 2023/2024 with planning certainty.
