Funding for independent organisations and charities secured
Funding for independent organisations and welfare services in the city of Chemnitz in the areas of youth and family support, social services and meeting places and socio-medical services has been secured for 2021.
Following recent intensive discussions with representatives of the organisations, in particular the League of Welfare Organisations, with political groups in Chemnitz City Council and with the head of administration, a solution was found to provide the organisations with financial support during the period of provisional budget management in such a way that they do not incur any risks in the provision of services.
In order to secure payment to all projects, services and facilities for the period up to April 2021, the corresponding proposals with amendments by the administration for the provisional budget management from January 2021 will now be presented to the Social Welfare Committee on 3 December 2020 and the Youth Welfare Committee on 8 December 2020 for approval.
At the same time, this will open up the opportunity to agree the strategic priorities for the coming years together with the funding organisations in the first half of 2021 in view of the increasingly difficult budget situation in subsequent years.
