Full closures on the Reichsstraße

As announced last week, work to repair the track crossings Reichsstraße / Stollberger Straße and Reichsstraße / Zwickauer Straße will begin early in the morning next week from 2 May 2016.

For this reason, Reichsstraße will be fully closed at the level of the Stollberger Straße track system from 2 May, 8 a.m. to 13 May, 12 noon.
The track crossing Zwickauer Straße / Reichsstraße is also affected. This will be fully closed for repairs from 8 a.m. on 2 May to 6 a.m. on 9 May. Longitudinal traffic on Zwickauer Straße will remain unaffected.

Considerable traffic obstructions are to be expected in the vicinity of the two roadworks. The areas at risk of congestion are shown on the attached map. It is recommended to avoid these areas as far as possible and to make any necessary journeys outside peak traffic times or to change your mode of transport.

Tram and cycle traffic will hardly be affected. The cycle path on the Reichsstraße can be used with minor restrictions. For this purpose, a local bypass of the closed area of Stollberger Straße will be set up and a temporary crossing will be created via Zwickauer Straße in the area of the tram stops. However, cyclists will have to use it as pedestrians, as the kerbs next to the tracks do not allow barrier-free crossing (kerb height 18 cm).

The renewal of the track crossings is necessary in order to maintain safe tram operations.
