Full closure of August-Bebel-Straße from Friday afternoon in the area of the railway overpass
Part of the railway bridge is demolished
Part of the railway bridges over August-Bebel-Straße will be demolished as part of the measures to rebuild the Chemnitz transport hub/reconstruction of Chemnitz main station. The bridges with a span of over 22 metres were built in 1905/1906 for the former coal station.
Due to the demolition work, August-Bebel-Straße in the area between Straße der Nationen and Hilbersdorfer Straße must be fully closed to traffic and pedestrians for safety reasons from 4 pm on Friday (28 March) until 4 am on Monday (31 March).
The diversion will be via Straße der Nationen / Emilienstraße / Hilbersdorfer Straße / Margaretenstraße / Frankenberger Straße / Dresdner Straße or Straße der Nationen / Carolastraße / Bahnhofstraße / Waisenstraße / Dresdner Straße.
Pedestrians can use the tunnel between Mauerstraße and Dresdner Straße during the period of the full closure.
In addition to the full closure from 4 pm, August-Bebel-Straße between Straße der Nationen and Hilbersdorfer Straße will be restricted to one lane at a time from 9 am on Friday. Pedestrians can use one side of the pavement until 4 pm.
