New issue of the maker magazine available from today
The new edition of the Macher magazine contains 41 new success stories from Chemnitz residents. The magazines are now available to pick up free of charge in the entrance area of the town hall and at the reception of the municipal swimming pool.
In the 86-page magazine, Chemnitz movers and shakers from the worlds of business, culture, leisure and sport report on the reasons why they can best realise their projects here and also venture a look into the future. As Chemnitz has decided to apply for the title of Capital of Culture 2025 this year, they also report on their expectations and hopes for the Capital of Culture application. Daniela Vieweg and Ingrid Schmutzler, reading mentors at the city library, hope, for example, that many positive projects will develop from the application and will still be present in the aftermath. Dr Tina Kießling shows that sport is also part of a city's cultural landscape and is happy to contribute to the sporting culture with her children's sports school in Chemnitz. Andreas von Bismarck, Managing Director of Terrot GmbH, welcomes the Capital of Culture application and hopes that the city will be better perceived if its own citizens get involved.
As in the previous year, the texts and interviews in the magazine are not only published in German, but have also been translated into English.
The maker series was created in March 2014 for the city marketing campaign "The city is me" and is to be continued in the coming year. The main focus will then be on initiators and contributors in the anniversary year 2018, when various projects will be dedicated to the city's 875-year history.
The "Maker of the week" interview will appear weekly in the official gazette and on www.die-stadt-bin-ich.de. The "100 Chemnitz movers and shakers" exhibition, which shows excerpts from the series of interviews from 2014 to 2016, will also be on display at the Stadtbad until February 2018.
