Frischborn spring in the Crimmitschau forest bubbles up again
The Frischborn spring in the Crimmitschau forest is now providing regular water again: after the wall of the Frischborn spring near the surface became leaky at the beginning of this year due to frost and no more spring water was flowing out via the regular outlet, the shaft well and the outlet of the Frischborn spring have now been repaired for around €4,140 following approval of the municipal budget.
The repair work was carried out by the specialist company Gunter Nestler, Brunnen- und Landschaftsbau from Meinersdorf. Within four days, the approx. five metre deep well bottom was desludged, building rubble and various iron parts were removed and disposed of professionally. The leaking well wall was dismantled to one metre below the forest floor and replaced with water-impermeable shaft rings with a lockable well cover. The spring outlet was constructed with a stainless steel pipe. The spring now releases approx. four litres of water per minute from the regular outlet.
The Parks Department draws the attention of hikers and walkers to the fact that the water is not labelled as drinking water and that use of the spring water as drinking water is therefore at the user's own risk.
Immediately after it became apparent that the spring water was running away from the source, interested citizens contacted the city's Parks Department and offered their support in restoring the spring. Over the next few weeks, a spontaneously formed interest group will work with the Parks Department to see whether the area around the spring can be improved. It is already certain that two benches will be replaced on site.
