Free admission to the museums on the first Friday of the month
Free visit from 7 July
From Friday, 7 July, anyone interested can once again visit the museum free of charge on the first Friday of every month. On the initiative of the city council and on the basis of the city council resolution of 22 March 2023, all visitors will have free admission to the city's diverse museum offerings on this day.
This includes all museums of the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz (Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz, Museum Gunzenhauser, Schloßbergmuseum, Henry van de Velde Museum in the Villa Esche and Burg Rabenstein), the Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz, the Neue Sächsische Galerie in sponsorship of the Neue Chemnitzer Kunsthütte e. V. and the Industriemuseum Chemnitz. V. and the Chemnitz Industrial Museum, which is sponsored by the Zweckverband Sächsisches Industriemuseum.
With the release and approval of the 2023/2024 biennial budget by the State Directorate, this offer can be utilised from now on. The city council's decision is valid until December 2024.
Children and young people up to the age of 18 already benefit from free admission to the municipal museums. In addition, students of Chemnitz University of Technology receive free admission to the municipal museums on presentation of their student ID.
