Free admission to the first Friday of the month is within reach
Offer of the municipal art, technology and nature collections
On the initiative of the city council and on the basis of the city council resolution of 22 March 2022, the municipal collections will once again be open to the public free of charge on the first Friday of every month.
The budgetary implementation still requires the approval of the Saxony State Directorate. As soon as the two-year budget has been approved by the State Directorate, this offer can be utilised for the museums of the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, the Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz, the Industriemuseum Chemnitz sponsored by the Zweckverband Sächsisches Industriemuseum and the Neue Sächsische Galerie sponsored by the Neue Chemnitzer Kunsthütte e. V.. This decision is valid until December 2024.
Children and young people up to the age of 18 already benefit from free admission to the municipal museums. In addition, students at Chemnitz University of Technology receive free admission to the municipal museums on presentation of their student ID.
