Frédéric Bußmann becomes General Director of the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz
Frédéric Bußmann, who holds a doctorate in art history, will take over the management of the Chemnitz Art Collections from 1 May 2018. The Chemnitz City Council has elected the 43-year-old as the successor to Dr Ingrid Mössinger. The search committee appointed for the personnel procedure had previously selected him from a number of qualified individuals. Dr Bußmann previously worked as a curator for the 19th century to the present at the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig. In his professional career to date, he has gained extensive curatorial and academic experience in various major museums and institutions, including in an international context. He has worked in Berlin, Paris, Venice, New York and Munich. He has prepared himself to take on a major management position as part of the "museion 21." management programme.
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "Dr Bußmann has impressed us with his professional qualifications, networks and fresh ideas. We are delighted that we have been able to recruit a museum expert who has the necessary expertise as well as the desire for a truly special task."

Dr Ingrid Mössinger will head the art collections until Dr Bußmann takes office. The Chemnitz City Council extended her contract until 30 April 2018.
