Frank Grunert and Timon Grancagnolo sign the Golden Book of Sport

On Tuesday 16 July at 3 p.m., Frank Grunert and Timon Grancagnolo will sign the Golden Book of Sport of the City of Chemnitz in the Green Salon of the City Hall. In the presence of Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky, the two members of ESV Lokomotive Chemnitz e. V. will be honoured for their sporting achievements.

Representatives of the media are invited.

Timon Grancagnolo became U23 World Champion in luge in 2023 and successfully defended this title a year later. Frank Grunert won the European title in bowling/disabled sports in 2024. His supervisor Sylke Wechler will also sign the Golden Book of Sport.

Frank Grunert, who has been an honorary member of ESV Lok Chemnitz since 2003, became German champion for the first time in 2010 and won the title again in 2018 and 2019. In May 2024, the 58-year-old became European champion in the individual category and European runner-up in the combined category at the European Para Bowling Championships for blind and visually impaired people.

Timon Grancagnolo, born in 2003, has been a member of ESV Lokomotive Chemnitz e. V. since 2007 and achieved success in various age groups as a child and teenager. His first international highlight was winning the overall World Cup in the A-Youth category in 2017/18. At the Youth Olympic Games in St. Moritz in 2020, he took third place in the individual competition and finished second with the team. This was followed by German championship titles, World Cup victories and top placings at the European and World Championships in the respective age groups.
