Fountain in the castle pond park will be back in operation tomorrow afternoon at 3 pm
The large fountain in Chemnitz's Schloßteichpark has been repaired and will be put back into operation tomorrow, Friday (11 July) . The system - historically known as the fountain - will be started up at 3 p.m. sharp by employees of the Chemnitz-based company RAC Service GmbH, which was commissioned by the Parks Department to carry out the repairs. The fountain will then bubble again daily from 3 to 10 pm from tomorrow.

Due to the special significance and not least the popularity of the beautiful and representative water feature, the city has been able to provide the necessary funding of around 35,000 euros in the 2014 budget for the repair of the fountain, which was damaged by unknown persons last year. Of this total sum, 20,000 euros will be spent on repairs and 15,000 euros annually on maintenance.
The damaged fountain system had to be put on hold last summer after metal thieves stole the brass metal nozzles and damaged the fountain system, as they did with the recently repaired and re-commissioned "Five Continents" fountain on the Schloßberg (PM 268 from 13 May 2014).
The location of the fountain, which also has a representative horticultural design, was created with the development of the "New Castle Pond Facilities" in the 1930s, for whose design the then city planning officer Fred Otto was responsible. The fountain can be found near the "Four Times of Day" sculpture group, the famous Schilling figures, and is part of the city centre oasis for walkers and visitors.It is one of the special attractions of the extensive park at the foot of the Schloßberg for walkers and visitors, locals and guests to the city centre.
