Foundation stone laid for secondary school on Richard-Hartmann-Platz

On Thursday, 27 May at 11.30 a.m., Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will attend the laying of the foundation stone for the new secondary school on Richard-Hartmann-Platz together with the Saxon State Minister for Education and Cultural Affairs, Christian Piwarz.

A new four-form secondary school with break and sports areas is being built at Richard-Hartmann-Platz. In June 2018, the winning design of the realisation competition was chosen by the architectural firm Code Unique Architekten from Dresden. The secondary school comprises grades five to ten and therefore has capacity for 672 pupils. The new building will enable inclusive schooling. 32.6 million euros will be invested in the new school building in the city centre. Over 20 million euros have been applied for as funding.
Children will be taught in the secondary school under a new name from the 2024/2025 school year. Sports lessons will be held in the neighbouring Richard Hartmann Hall.
