Former "Eschestift" becomes new daycare centre
At its meeting today, the city council approved the construction of a new daycare centre in the Hilbersdorf district by FASA GmbH. The new facility will be operated by the independent youth welfare organisation Kinder-, Jugend-, und Familienhilfe e. V. Chemnitz (KJF Chemnitz).
From autumn 2019, 100 places for crèche and kindergarten children will be available. These can be expanded to 130 places. The buildings of the former "Eschestift", Forststraße 24 to 30, will be refurbished by FASA GmbH in accordance with listed building regulations and legal requirements for daycare centres. At the same time, the buildings are being upgraded in terms of energy efficiency. The property is situated in a quiet location right on the edge of the Zeisigwald forest and offers ideal conditions for an inclusive and forest-based early education programme.
The contract to create and operate the centre was awarded to FASA GmbH and KJF Chemnitz following an expression of interest procedure. The youth welfare planning subcommittee was informed about the evaluation of all expressions of interest in March 2018. KJF Chemnitz has been a recognised provider of independent youth welfare services in Chemnitz for over 25 years.
