Forest maintenance work begins in September
Purchase of firewood permits 2024/2025 possible from 2 September
From the beginning of September 2024 to the end of March 2025, forest maintenance work, including felling of damaged timber, as well as traffic safety measures on roads and property boundaries will take place again
Depending on weather conditions, this will affect the following forest areas Grenzbach Erfenschlag, Mühlberg in Einsiedel, Fischzuchtgrund, Heilstättenwald Borna, Sechsruthen, Crimmitschauer Wald, Rottluff, Hutholz, Neustädter Wald, first afforestation Hoppberg in Oberrabenstein, Galgenberg and succession areas in Hilbersdorf north of the Zeisigwald.
The majority of the felling will again be carried out by Saxon forestry companies - which are bound by contract and instructed by the municipal forestry manager - mainly by machine.
The respective forest areas and forest paths are closed during the work! There is a danger to life!
All forest visitors must take into account that forest areas and forest paths are temporarily closed to passers-by for safety reasons for the duration of the felling and timber processing (based on the Saxon Forest Act, Section 11 (3)).
The barriers must be observed and may not be altered.
Stacks of wood, so-called wood piles, must also not be entered or climbed on. This could cause logs to roll and result in serious accidents. Adults should instruct their children and grandchildren in particular about this.
The raw timber is processed into various assortments and temporarily stored on forest roads accessible to lorries. This may cause disruption to the forest roads. Once the timber has been removed, the paths are repaired. This also depends on the weather and experience has shown that it will only be completed after around five months.
