Footpaths on Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße are being renewed

Tomorrow, 7 March, construction work will begin on the pavements in the area of the Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße/Karl-Liebknecht-Straße junction. At the junction with Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße, footpath projections will be built on both sides. The construction of a new pavement to Mühlenstraße is also being prepared.

This is the first construction project on the Capital of Culture route between Chemnitz Central Station and the European Capital of Culture 2025 visitor centre in the Hartmannfabrik.

There is currently no safe and barrier-free way to cross the road at the junction with Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße. The construction of the projections and the pavement will ensure greater safety for pedestrians and other road users.

The entire project is scheduled for completion by mid-June 2024. The costs amount to around 76,000 euros and will be financed by the City of Chemnitz's own funds as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. The company Asphalt-Bau Chemnitz ABC Tief- und Straßenbau GmbH from Bernsdorf has been commissioned to carry out the work.
