Football World Cup: Public viewing also in Chemnitz

Like everywhere else in Germany, football fans in Chemnitz can look forward to public viewing during the World Cup. The German government has relaxed the noise protection regulations especially for the World Cup. It allows this communal outdoor football viewing in public places.

The special regulation allows local authorities to authorise public viewing of the games in public places even late at night. The initiative for late-night public viewing came from the federal states and the Association of Cities and Towns. The Ministry of the Environment, which is responsible for noise protection, then extended the scope for the authorities, as almost half of the matches at the World Cup in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July will not start until 10 p.m. German time or later.
