Football pitch in Konkordiapark has been completed
The new football pitch in Konkordiapark is being inspected today. Once the construction site barriers have been cleared, the pitch will be released for use by all interested footballers. Construction work began in mid-July of this year and is essentially complete. The remaining work to be done is applying the lines to the pitch. However, this is only possible if the weather is dry and mild and may therefore be delayed until spring 2018. Even without this lining, the pitch can be used immediately.
With the construction of a new football pitch in Konkordiapark, the existing leisure facilities here will be expanded to include another opportunity for active recreation. The new small pitch (approx. 22 x 13 metres) has been installed between the existing facilities on an open grass area.
The new pitch for various ball sports was planned on the initiative of and in consultation with the future users. The surface of the new pitch was installed as a water-permeable two-layer synthetic surface made of rubber granulate with a red top layer. The entire pitch was fitted with a special metal surround as a ball catch fence. The goals are integrated into the 4.50 metre high front sides with two side slip openings as access to the pitch. The fencing on the long sides is approx. two metres high.
The work was carried out by Schmidt-Bau Hoch-, Tief-, und Ingenieurbau GmbH from Augustusburg. The independent landscape architect Petra Rosenblatt from Hainichen was commissioned with the local construction supervision and also provided the planning services. A total of 170,000 euros was spent on planning and construction work for the new leisure area. The measure is subsidised by the Saxon Investment Strengthening Act (Sächsisches Investitionsstärkungsgesetz).
