FOCUS: EUROPA - Getting to know Spain
Adult education centre: continuation of the series from 4 to 15 November 2024 - opening event on 4 November, 6 p.m., TIETZ, 4th floor
On Monday, 4 November, 6 pm, the voyage of discovery through Spain begins with live music and typical specialities on the 4th floor of Tietz*. Bienvenidas y Bienvenidos! - A warm welcome. The Spanish Weeks will be opened in the presence of the Counsellor for Culture and Science of the Embassy of Spain in Germany, Helena Cosano, and the Director of the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre, Grit Bochmann**.
From 4 to 15 November, the Adult Education Centre will be continuing its Country Special series and is now focusing on Spain. The programme includes the following courses and events:
Un, dos, tres! - Crash courses
On Tuesday, 5 November, Friday, 8 November and Wednesday, 13 November, all from 5 p.m., a native speaker will give an insight into the wonderful language world of the country with three crash courses on Catalan, Galician and Basque. In 90 minutes each, interest in the language is awakened.
Cookery courses and film discussions
On Friday, 8 November, Ana Albornoz, acting head of the Art and Culture department, native speaker and amateur cook, will be exploring the culinary revolution after the Conquista with typical Latin American ingredients. Historical insights, cooking techniques and recipes emphasise the diversity of Latin American ingredients. No previous knowledge is required and you are welcome to taste the food.
On Wednesday, 13 November at 6 pm, participants can immerse themselves in the world of Spanish cinema at the "Cine español" film evening.
How Don Quixote came to Chemnitz
On Tuesday, 12 November at 7 pm, Dirk Glodde, actor from the Chemnitz theatre ensemble, will slip into the role of Don Quixote, which he is playing in this theatre season. Conversations, thoughts and readings show in an entertaining and profound way "How Don Quixote came to Chemnitz" and thus bring the work of Miguel de Cervantes closer.

With "FOCUS: EUROPE", the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre has embarked on a journey of discovery this year to experience Europe in a new way. European values, traditions, cultural and social peculiarities and challenges have been and will continue to be incorporated into the events of the summer and winter semesters.
