Flood situation on Chemnitz rivers currently unchanged

The flood situation on the Chemnitz rivers is currently unchanged: The Chemnitz is currently in the second of four flood warning levels. It was declared tonight. Residents were informed by siren and loudspeaker announcements. Würschnitz and Zwönitz briefly exceeded the threshold values for level 2 in the morning, but are currently back to warning level 1. The water levels are currently trending slightly downwards. This also applies to Pleißenbach and Kappelbach.

All rivers are being monitored and regularly checked. The German Weather Service has cancelled the current storm warning, but heavy rain must be expected again throughout the weekend.

Sandbags are being made available at the Erfenschlag and Glösa volunteer fire brigades and in Klaffenbach opposite the Baufeld company. In Klaffenbach, 1500 sandbags have been distributed, in Erfenschlag 800 so far.

The fire brigade had to respond to 30 incidents on Friday night, most of which involved pumping out cellars or gullies.

Note for motorists: Chemnitztalstraße is currently closed due to flooding.
