Flood defence work in Harthau

Full closure of Annabergerstraße in Harthau required from 1 April 2019

From April 2018 until October 2019, flood protection work will be carried out in Harthau along Annaberger Straße between Alte Harth and Klaffenbacher Straße on behalf of the Saxon State Dam Authority (LTV), the utility company eins and the city of Chemnitz. New embankment walls and a new bridge over the Würschnitz are being built, and extensive pipes are being relocated and re-laid. At the same time, the alignment of Annaberger Straße at the junction of Alte Harth will be redesigned so that the tight curve radius will no longer exist in future and visibility will be improved. The project will cost a total of 5.1 million euros, of which the city will bear 1.97 million euros.

The aforementioned conversions on and in Annaberger Straße will require a full closure of the B 95, Annaberger Straße in Harthau from 1 April (from 8 a.m.) to 30 August 2019.

In the first phase, the landward section of Annaberger Straße from Alte Harth to the Am Harthauer Bahnhof access road will be built. During this time, local traffic on Alte Harth will only be possible from and to the city centre. In the second phase, the section from Annaberger Straße 477 to the junction with Alte Harth will be built. During this phase, the Alte Harth can only be reached from and to landwards.

At the beginning of the first phase, the Am Harthauer Bahnhof/Stöcklstraße area is connected to Annaberger Straße from and to the landward direction via the old bridge. When the new bridge goes into operation, the connection will be made from and to the city centre during the first phase. During the second phase (construction of Annaberger Straße towards the city centre), the Am Harthauer Bahnhof/Stöcklstraße area will also be accessible from and to the country side.

The diversion for cars and buses in both directions is via Klaffenbacher Straße, Würschnitztalstraße, Chemnitzer Straße, Wolgograder Allee and Südring back to Annaberger Straße. Lorries will be routed via Klaffenbacher Straße, Würschnitztalstraße, Bahnhofstraße and Hauptstraße Neukirchen to the S 258 (Chemnitzer Straße, Stollberger Straße). In Burkhardtsdorf, the closure of the B 95 in the direction of Chemnitz and the bypass option via the B 180 have already been signposted.

Once the full closure has been completed, the remaining work will continue with a half-sided closure of Annaberger Straße.
