Flood defence exercise in Chemnitz-Harthau
Fire brigade rehearses flood event on 11 November from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
On Saturday, 11 November, from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., the fire brigade will be practising flood procedures in the Harthau district, in the area of Hedwigstraße 1 to 29 and Albert-Schenk-Straße 1, 2, 3, 5, 9 and 13.
At the new flood protection measure 3, a flood event and the set-up of the flood protection technology will be rehearsed for the first time. A high-performance pump on a trailer and four submersible pumps are used.
The aim is for the members of the Mittelbach volunteer fire brigade to familiarise themselves with the technology, the gate valves and backwater flaps as well as the conditions in general. The test set-up also serves to recognise any existing weak points so that they can be improved.
In addition to the emergency services of the Mittelbach volunteer fire brigade, representatives of the state dam administration, the commissioned planning/engineering office and the specialist company for pump technology as well as employees of the city of Chemnitz will also take part in the exercise.
