Flood damage is being repaired "Am Mühlberg"
Start of construction work for road construction measures by the civil engineering office in the Einsiedel district
On Monday, 22 September, the city's civil engineering department will begin road construction work on the street "Am Mühlberg" in the Einsiedel district of Chemnitz, which was damaged by the 2013 floods. This will involve repairing an approx. 100 metre long section of road to the pond at Mühlbach. As part of the construction work, the road section on the existing route will be given an asphalt surface course and a new drainage system.
The drainage system in the area of the already asphalted section towards Zwönitzbrücke will also be renewed - this will largely take place next to the carriageway. In order to drain the collected water in a controlled manner, a discharge point into the Zwönitz will be created in the form of a rough-bed trough, a channel paved with natural stone.
The access options were agreed with local residents in advance, as some of the work on site will have to be carried out with full road closures.
The construction project will cost around 85,000 euros. The measure is being subsidised by the Free State of Saxony with 30,000 euros as part of the 2013 flood reconstruction plan. It is planned to complete the construction work by mid-October 2014.
The company Zettl GmbH from Aue-Alberoda was commissioned with the work.
