Flemmingstraße turning point converted to be barrier-free
New pedestrian light signalling system goes into operation
The new pedestrian light signalling system on Flemmingstraße near Rudolf-Krahl-Straße was put into operation yesterday. The new system ensures safe crossing of Flemmingstraße in the immediate vicinity of the bus turning loop for lines 31 and 62. Access to the crossing is indicated for blind people by tactile guidance elements in the pavement surface. In addition to the visual indication, the pedestrian signal is also transmitted acoustically.
In connection with this new signalised crossing, the other crossings at the junction with Rudolf-Krahl-Straße were fitted with new kerbs in advance. The bus stop areas in the turning loop were redesigned and the boarding areas clarified using tactile guidance and attention fields. A new footpath to Steinwiese was also created. Both stops are now equipped with passenger shelters.
The total construction costs amounted to approx. 145,000 euros. Faber Bau GmbH from Drebach was commissioned to carry out the work.
