Security point in the city centre to start in April
There will be a new security point in Chemnitz city centre from April. The new contact point for citizens will be set up in the former McDonalds branch at the central bus stop and will be staffed by the Chemnitz city security service and the police.
Mayor Sven Schulze expects the contact centre to open in April. From Monday to Saturday in the afternoon and evening hours, staff from the city's public order service and the police will then be available there as contact persons. During major events in the city centre, staff will be on site for longer if necessary.
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "With the new security point, we are taking a further step towards strengthening the sense of security of the people of Chemnitz in the city centre. The centre serves as a point of contact for anyone with security-related issues, and the colleagues there can then take further steps if necessary. I would like to thank everyone involved for their excellent and targeted cooperation, which enabled us to realise this project in a timely manner."
