First meeting of the citizens' advisory council on safety
Mayor Barbara Ludwig is meeting with the new Citizens' Advisory Council on Security for the first time today. The advisory board has its origins in the citizens' dialogue on the topic of safety in Chemnitz on 17 September. During the event and in the days that followed, around 20 Chemnitz residents registered their interest in participating. The Lord Mayor also presented the advisory board to the city council last Wednesday as part of the seven-point plan for Chemnitz.
In addition to getting to know each other, the topics that are important to the citizens will be discussed today. To begin with, the organisation of the administration's situation centre, which works during evacuations following bomb blasts or flood events, will be briefly presented. The advisory board will also be given an insight into the video surveillance system for Chemnitz city centre, which went into operation today.
In addition to the citizens of Chemnitz, participants will include Police Chief Councillor Kunze, Mayor Runkel and Mr Tschök from CVAG.
How often the advisory board will meet and whether this will take place in public in future will also be discussed.
