First meeting of the AG Rad in 2021
Members and stakeholders met via video conference
Under the leadership of the Mayor for Urban Development and Transport, Michael Stötzer, the first meeting of the Bicycle Working Group in 2021 took place on Thursday, 14 January. The working group, to which all political groups represented in the city council, all citizens' platforms, cycling-related interest groups (ADFC, VCD, BUND, AGENDA / AG Mobilität) as well as representatives of pupils, students and parents were invited, met digitally as a video conference for the first time in its history. The response was very positive and it was possible to consult and discuss with up to 24 participants.
The meeting focussed on the City of Chemnitz's report on various projects for the construction of cycling facilities (including the status of the NUMIC[numic.city] research project, establishment of a cycle lane on Reichenhainer Straße between Lutherstraße and Campusplatz, status of the Küchwald-Wüstenbrand, status of the Erfenschlag cycle path, status of the Chemnitz - Limbach-Oberfrohna cycle highway), the presentation of the current status of the draft transport development plan (VEP) 2040 (all information at www.chemnitz.de/vep2040) and the City of Chemnitz's proposals on the methodology for updating the cycling concept.
The City of Chemnitz intends to form a core team from among the members of the Bicycle Working Group to work co-creatively on various aspects of cycling in order to update the cycling concept (resolution proposal BA-004/2019). The ideas and proposals developed in this way will then be debated, adapted and further developed with the Bicycle Working Group and the public. The new cycling concept will then be formed from the sum of the discussion results. The years 2021/22 have been proposed as the processing period. The aim is for the cycling concept to be adopted at the end of 2022.
The procedure described above was approved by the members of the Bicycle Working Group present without dissenting votes. Work on the cycling concept has already begun (current status: evaluation) and is now to be intensified in 2021.
