First implementation of the concept of the municipal music school for the years 2018 to 2023

City Council adopts new fee schedule and fee statutes

At its meeting today, the City Council approved a new fee structure for the Chemnitz Municipal Music School. It is the first general fee increase for freelance teachers at the Municipal Music School in ten years and comes into force on 1 February 2019. At the same time, the fee schedule from 1 August 2015 will expire. The fees for individual lessons will be increased by an average of 2.50 euros to 22 euros. This change is expected to result in additional expenses of approx. 22,100 euros per year.

From 1 August 2019, new fee regulations will apply to the municipal music school. This was decided by the city council at its meeting today. The music school's future concept, which was approved by the city council on 28 November 2018, already provided for a fee increase of around 5 percent. This will now be implemented for the 2019/2020 school year.

As a result, the annual fee for elementary music education and basic musical training per pupil for 45 minutes of lessons will rise from 216 euros to 226 euros. The half-year fee for the instrument carousel is 130 euros (instead of 120 euros) including the use of instruments and comprises four times four lessons of 45 minutes each.

The fees for instrumental and vocal lessons will also rise by around five per cent. The annual fee for individual lessons for full-paying students will rise from 768 euros to 800 euros, while the reduced annual fee will increase from 652.80 euros to 685 euros. These changes are expected to generate additional income of around 46,400 euros per year.
