First exhibition on the environmental award
Press event on 26 September, 1.30 pm, Town Hall, City Council Chamber
On Tuesday, 20 September - on the occasion of World Children's Day - the public exhibition for the Chemnitz Environmental Award will open for the first time this year. On display are 22 projects that show that children and young people from Chemnitz are also committed to a healthy environment.
The exhibition is open to all interested parties and groups in the customer centre in the eins building, Johannisstraße 1, until 27 October from Monday to Friday between 10 am and 6 pm.
Interested groups of more than 15 people are requested to register in advance by emailing umweltamt(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
World Children's Day is a reminder that many children are not simply allowed to be children. The motto of this year's World Children's Day is "Together for Children's Rights". For the first time, the Environment Department of the City of Chemnitz, the Children and Youth Officers of the City of Chemnitz and eins energie have taken this as an opportunity to organise an exhibition on the environmental prize. The protection of our environment and the sustainable use of resources will secure our future and that of our children in the long term.
This year, a total of 667 children and young people from Chemnitz took part in 22 different projects for the Environmental Award. The exhibition shows in pictures and on the basis of the handicrafts how the participants have dealt intensively with topics such as vegetable cultivation, soil health, upcycling, waste disposal, the careful use of resources, material cycles or the interaction of different animal and plant species.
On Monday, 26 September, there will also be a children's conference under the motto "I am active and stand up for my environment and the lives of animals".
The theme of this year's children's conference was decided with the children in a democratic process. The participating children will organise various workshops on the topic of environmental and animal protection on the day.
